Blue Ridge Roller Derby Celebrates 20 years with October 3rd Game at Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville 

ASHEVILLE, NC - September 10, 2026 — Blue Ridge Roller Derby (BRRD) is celebrating its 20th season with a highly anticipated return to Asheville. BRRD will celebrate with a full day of roller derby, skating, and community celebration on Saturday, October 3rd at Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville.

After two decades of bringing action-packed, family-friendly roller derby to Western North Carolina, BRRD is marking this milestone season with an all-home-team showdown featuring the Black Balsam Batties, Copperhead Outlaws, and The Swarm. Named after WNC wildlife, each team brings its own personality and attack strategy to the track. 

What: BRRD 20th Year Celebration & Home-Team "Old Skool" Roller Derby Bout

Where: Harrah's Cherokee Center - Asheville, Asheville, NC 

When: Saturday, October 3, 2026 

Doors: 11:00 AM 

First game (bout) whistle: 12:00 PM noon (second game 1pm, third game 2pm) 

All three teams will be introduced before the first game, followed by a league-wide photo celebrating BRRD's 20th season. 

The tight, action-packed schedule puts all three home teams on the track in a single afternoon, with each team facing both of its rivals for an afternoon of competition, bragging rights, and plenty of roller derby action. 

Following the games, Harrah's will host a family open skate at 3:00 PM Presented by The Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission. This will also be BRRD's Alumni Celebration featuring an unofficial Mean Girls after-party theme, followed by an adult open skate at 6:00 PM

The celebration continues after the skating at Q-Hall, BRRD's new official after-party sponsor, and a brand new women-sports-only bar. Fans and skaters are invited to keep the party going with an official Golden Girls-themed after after-party, complete with muumuus and cheesecake

A portion of our proceeds will be donated to our community partner, Bridge Meals a non-profit that connects donors, restaurants, and neighbors in need, building a sustainable, community powered meal support network.
