Apple Open Tennis Tournament Returns to Henderson County for 47th Year
HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. — The 47th Annual Apple Open Tennis Tournament will bring four days of competitive tennis to Henderson County from Thursday, Sept. 3, through Sunday, Sept. 6.
Four Days of USTA-Sanctioned Competition
Tennis players from across the region are invited to Henderson County for the 47th annual Apple Open Tennis Tournament, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3, through Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026.
The USTA Level 5–sanctioned tournament will feature Adult NTRP competition for players ages 18 and older, 40 and older, and 55 and older. Open divisions will also be offered. Players can compete in men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. NTRP divisions will range from 3.0 to 4.5. The tournament will use a first-match-loser consolation format, with round-robin play planned for divisions with fewer than five entries.
Competition Across Henderson County
Matches will be held at Hendersonville Racquet Club and Kenmure Country Club in Flat Rock. Jackson Park will serve as an overflow location.Players should consult the online registration portal for match schedules and the anticipated start time for each day of competition.
Supporting the Local Tennis Community
The Apple Open is a sponsored fundraiser benefiting the Community Tennis Association of Henderson County. Proceeds help fund the association’s tennis programs for children, youth and adults, as well as its high school scholarships.
“The Apple Open brings players from our community and across the South together while supporting instruction for more than 200 local children, adult beginner programs, Abilities Tennis and wheelchair tennis,” said Lynn Gilpin, president of the Community Tennis Association of Henderson County. “Tournament proceeds also help fund $11,000 in annual scholarships as we work to grow the game throughout Henderson County.”
In addition to supporting local tennis programming, the tournament offers adult players of different ages and skill levels an opportunity to compete during one of Henderson County’s longest-running tennis traditions.
Registration and Entry Information
Each registered player will receive a tournament shirt. The entry fee is $60 per person for a first singles or doubles event and $50 for a second event. Players may enter a maximum of two events.
Registration closes Sunday, Aug. 30, at 11:59 p.m. Players can review tournament information and register through the official USTA tournament page.
