Be part of the comeback and help us rebuild

Western North Carolina!

WHY GIVE?

The Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission is proud to partner with esteemed local nonprofits including the Always Asheville Fund, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, Asheville Tennis Association, and the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County to team up for the impactful Stars Servin' Up Love Charity Tennis Event.

This important initiative aims to gather essential funds that will aid in the continued relief and recovery from the significant and devastating damage left behind by Hurricane Helene. All donations and proceeds generated from this event will be thoughtfully distributed to all of the aforementioned nonprofits to assist in the rebuild and restoration efforts of the communities in Western North Carolina.

Your generous donation plays a crucial role in helping our entire community get back on its feet and regain stability. As we begin to thoroughly assess the damage and start the recovery process, it is essential to focus on the healing power that sports can offer. As the region works diligently toward recovery, we can’t thank you enough for your active participation in our comeback and for your invaluable help during this critical time.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONS:

After the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, our community’s strength and unity have been on full display. We have been deeply moved by the outpouring of support from friends and partners near and far. Many of them have faced crisis and challenges in their own communities and are now pledging their aid to our travel and hospitality community.

Explore Asheville, our 501(c)(6) nonprofit, has established the Always Asheville Fund to help our small independent travel and hospitality businesses throughout Asheville and Buncombe County recover from the devastating impacts and aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Founded in 1983, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity was the first Habitat affiliate in North Carolina. Through Habitat homeownership and home repair programs, more than 2,100 adults and children in Buncombe County have achieved the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build a better future. A decent place to call home and an affordable mortgage enables Habitat homeowners to save more, invest in education, pursue opportunities and have greater financial stability.

In December 2021, Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and Madison County Habitat for Humanity joined forces to strengthen Habitat for Humanity in our region. As a combined organization serving Buncombe and Madison Counties, more families will be served with life-changing homeownership and home repair programs in the coming years.

UWABC is committed to collaborating with donors, volunteers, community partners, and those most affected by inequity and poverty to co-create a community where all share equal access to the resources necessary to attain the education, financial stability, and health needed to thrive.

Hurricane Helene left a path of destruction across Western North Carolina, but together we will rebuild and restore hope. United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County is committed to leading the volunteer response to this unprecedented event.

The Asheville Tennis Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer-driven organization. Its mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis for all in the Asheville area — all skill levels, all ages, all socioeconomic backgrounds.

ATA initiatives include youth and adult clinics; adaptive tennis (wheelchair and abilities tennis), and a tennis/academic program for underserved youth. Additionally, the ATA focuses on providing resources for coaches and players, ensuring that the tennis community in Asheville thrives. Through partnerships and collaborations with local schools and recreation centers, the ATA aims to increase accessibility to tennis, and encourage lifelong participation in the sport — the healthiest sport in the world!

The Asheville Buncombe Regional Sports Commission is a 501(C)3 organization established through a partnership between Buncombe County, the City of Asheville, UNC Asheville, and the Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority. In keeping with the above Mission Statement, ABRSC aggressively works to recruit sporting events to all areas of Asheville, Buncombe County and the surrounding region that attract visitors and enhance the wellness and quality of life for local residents.
